Digital Learning Content

Simply defined, digital learning content is information for teaching and learning provided electronically and viewed on a computer or similar device. With that in mind, this site has been created to provide a variety of Web resources related to digital learning content. Digital Learning Content will point you to links about digital libraries, intellectual property/copyright/Creative Commons and courses and modules.

Learning Objects

Beyond links to quality Web resources like these, digital learning content typically is made up of small units of instruction called learning objects that can be used, shared and adapted for teaching and learning. Like a set of building blocks that can be put together in endless ways, learning objects are modular, flexible, portable and adaptable to specific needs.

Digital learning content exemplifies the enormous benefits that advances in technology can bring to everyday life. Its potential to improve how teachers teach and how students learn has only begun to be realized. An increasing number of states across the nation now maintain or are in the process of creating state repositories where this digital learning content is stored, accessed and may be retrieved.   If you know about or have used digital learning resources not identified here, please write to OnlineTeacher@sreb.org.Provide a link and tell us how you use this resource.

SREB-SCORE Initiative

Working primarily through the SREB-SCORE (Sharable Content Object Repositories for Education) Initiative, SREB has identified quality digital resources useful to online teachers and online students. Information about these resources and links are provided here. The goals of SCORE are to improve teaching and learning and achieve costs savings through a multistate K-12 and higher education initiative to share digital learning course content among colleges, universities and schools in SREB states. SCORE membership is limited to SREB state education agencies and to schools or colleges designated by those agencies.
